Manchester MBA Interview Experience
Venue: Hotel Oberoi, 15th Jan Mumbai. Result: Accepted after interview.
Interviewing staff: Dr. Heather Spiro, Associate Director of Programmes, Manchester Business School.
I had travelled a long way for this interview, all the way from Shimla. The interview was on an formal tone, but Dr. Spiro is a wonderful person to talk to and put me at ease soon after beginning.
The questions were usual with emphasis on real life situations.
Why MBA? Why Manchester? Why now?
Leadership experience and how would you handle conflicts within your group? Also some profile based questions straight out of the resume. Dr. Spiro seemed to have done a SWOT (Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats) analysis of my resume. I was asked to name and explain my SWOTs and what implications would they have and how I was preparing to overcome/tackle/accept them. Dr. Spiro was writing/and making tick-marks on a form all through the interview, a form she had prepared, I understand well in advance for the interview.
After the one hour interview was over, I had the opportunity to ask about Financial issues and about the Career Management Service. Dr. Spiro explained both the issues very well.
After waiting for a month, I came to know that I was in.
Advice to applicants: Know your resume, application form and essays *very* well. Just be yourself and you should be fine.

Arnav,
I also applied and had an interview about a week ago. How long did it take them to get back to you after the interview? Please let me know when you have a chance. Cheers! Candidate(Quote)

Its mentioned in the writeup that “After waiting for a month, I came to know that I was in.” This was probably because Dr. Spiro mentioned that the interview results would have to be discussed with the entire admissions team, which would next meet after one month.
I hope you get your results soon! All the best! (Y)
P.S. Its amazing that you figured out my name! Thru the link I guess? There is only one post where my name figures, the rest of the posts are written with my nickname – Pinchi. Where did you find this link and if you googled, what did you search for? Please lemme know, it would help me on the Adsense program. Pinchi(Quote)

Hi HMK.
The entire interview was largely profile-based, as I have already mentioned. Dr. Spiro is a very pleasant person to talk to but the interview does have a formal tone. All the best. Yes, I am planning to join MBS this fall.
