Book Review: THE HENNA ARTIST (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) by Alka Joshi
Genre: Historical Fiction
In 1955 India, Lakshmi fled from her abusive husband and began a new life as a trusted henna artist and herbalist. Just as she was close to purchasing her own home, her husband (and a 13 year old sister she never knew she had) found her, forever changing her life. How will their sudden appearance change her… and them?
This was an immersive read, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the art of henna and life in India in the 1950s. Lakshmi was such a brave woman for leaving her husband and starting a new life, and I’d definitely recommend this book if you love strong, smart, and innovative female characters.
