For Alice, life has never been better. With her second husband, she has a successful business, two children and a beautiful house. Alice knows that life could have been different if her first husband had lived, but Nathan’s arrival into her life gave her back the happiness she craved. Through the ups and downs of life, from celebratory nights out to comforting each other through loss, Alice knows with her best friend Beth by her side, they can survive anything together. So when Nathan starts acting strangely, Alice turns to Beth for help. But soon, Alice begins to wonder whether her trust has been misplaced.. the first mistake could be her last.
I really enjoyed the story of this book. I got into it straight away and I was invested in the characters and story almost immediately. I really liked Alice’s character and I felt a connection with her immediately. Beth’s story was very interesting to me, and I guessed that there was going to be a twist there. The twist wasn’t a huge shocker, but it made sense for that to be the outcome. I can’t think of anything else that would have worked. The final part of the book was my favourite part. I flew through it because I wanted to see how the story ended for each character. My only issue was the ending. It ended too abruptly for me. I would have liked an epilogue which showed what happened for each of the characters. I felt that would have wrapped the book up nicely. As it was, I was left frustrated and wanting more as I wanted to see what happened next! Besides that, I loved the book and would highly recommend it. @sandiejones_author
