Harry Potter is midway through his training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup. He wants to find out about the mysterious event that’s supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn’t happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. But unfortunately for Harry Potter, he’s not normal – even by wizarding standards. And in his case, different can be deadly.
This was the longest book in the series so far and it did not disappoint. I was honestly worried it’d drag or I’d take ages to read it due to its length but that was not the case at all! Each book I say is my favourite and then the next just tops it. It took longer than usual for them to arrive at Hogwarts- I think it was over 100 pages in when they arrive. I enjoyed this as we got to see more of the wizard community outside of Hogwarts. I also enjoyed the addition of the two schools that came to Hogwarts. I’d never even considered there’d be other wizard schools so I enjoyed that! I’m trying to space out the books because I don’t want this series to end!
