Jess and her little brother, Sparrow, were found on a beach in Goa. Seemingly abandoned by their parents, they were declared orphans. They never found out what happened to their mother. Now as adults, Jess is determined to leave the past behind her. She wants to move on with her family. Sparrow, on the other hand, is determined to find his mother. He follows sightings of her around the world. What happened in Goa? And is Jess and Sparrow’s mother still alive?
I was not a huge fan of this book. I thought it had great promise at the start but I felt like the story never went anywhere. I was expecting it to be more of a thriller but really most of the book had no developments and the story never took off as a result. I liked the whole story of Jess’ family and her husband and her job but I feel like the story went south when it was Sparrow’s point of view. It was quite simply very repetitive. We also never got any answers about what happened in Goa. I just felt the story went off in a different direction from the story of missing parents a lot of the time. Overall, an average kind of book. I honestly couldn’t recommend it, it’s not bad but it’s not good which is sometimes worse. I’d rather a bad book then a meh one.
