On the third day of Christmas… one of my favourite books ever. I didn’t read it this year (or even last year), but still it has stayed with me. I can’t recommend it enough. I think the fact it’s set in Ireland really made me absolutely fall in love with it. I could almost see the school, the people and the families. It’s a sad book. A hard read. It’s not light and fluffy or for the faint hearted. But everyone should read it. It’s honest, real and emotional. Louise O’Neill is a superb author and she often goes where no one else dares to and takes on the most daunting of subjects. If you haven’t read this, I can’t recommend it enough.
