This is the story of Lucy and Paul.
They met. They fell deeply in love. They got married. Lucy thought that she had everything she wanted.
Until she found the photograph from Paul’s past life, read the text messages he’s so desperately trying to hide. Until she uncovered Paul’s darkest secrets. Now Lucy realises she doesn’t really know her husband. She doesn’t know if she can trust her own mind. She doesn’t know the lengths Paul would go to keep his perfect life. And worst of all, she doesn’t know that she’s in danger.
One of my pet hates in a book is when the blurb tells us stuff that isn’t going to happen until well into the book. This was an example of that. When the book started, Lucy and Paul hadn’t even met but we know they’ll marry from the blurb. I wasn’t a fan of this aspect but I decided to give the rest of the story a chance. I really enjoyed the story of the book. I found it frustrating at times that Paul was so easily manipulating everyone but I think that’s a sign that I was invested in the book. I found it super easy to read but some of the chapters were way too long. I read on my kindle and some of the chapters were over 40 minutes. I didn’t really like this because it makes it harder to read “just one more chapter” before bed. The ending just completely confused me. I was enjoying it up until the last page and then I just didn’t understand what was happening. I read the last page over and over but couldn’t grasp what exactly the author was getting at. For me, the middle was the best part of this story. I would recommend this book but it wasn’t my favourite.
