Genre: Mystery/Thriller

Rachel, a true crime podcaster, is covering a rape trial (16 year old Kelly Monroe vs. well known diver Scott Blair) while also receiving disturbing letters from fan Hannah about the unsolved rape/murder of her sister, Jenny, that occurred in the same town 25 years ago. Could the two incidents be related?

Well, wow, what did I just read? First of all, I must include a trigger warning because the rapes were numerous, violent, and detailed. Parts of this story were very dark and made my stomach turn. I did, however, feel drawn in from the beginning and liked that the story included two points of view, Rachel and Hannah. I also liked that the story included two story lines (one in the present and one in the past) as that definitely kept me curious as I tried to connect the dots between the two incidents. I’d recommend this one for fans of dark, true crime stories, but it is definitely not a “fun, light” thriller or for the faint of heart.

Location: Neapolis (fictional town), North Carolina

I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
